Warning Signs
Digestive symptoms that keep coming back deserve a closer look. These are some of the signs that lead people to ask.

Questions
Rectal bleeding, black stools, or unexplained weight loss call for a gastroenterologist. IBS itself has no cure, and most people manage it by working out their triggers, so symptoms may not disappear completely. The full list of symptoms that need prompt care is under gut health evaluation.
Gastroenterologists diagnose IBS most often, and a primary care provider is a reasonable first step when symptoms are less frequent but still interfere with daily life. A visit here looks at the whole picture, from symptoms to food and daily habits. Related digestive questions are covered under gut health.
The cost depends on which labs are ordered and how many visits you book. Blood work checks for other causes, such as low iron or inflammation. Low iron is covered under fatigue. The lab sends its own bill for each test, apart from the visit. When you are ready to ask about a visit, book a discovery call.
Triggers differ from person to person. Foods that may trigger symptoms in some people include dairy, gluten, beans and cabbage, carbonated drinks, and foods high in fermentable carbs (FODMAPs), such as onions, garlic, and certain fruits. A low-FODMAP diet is meant as a time-limited trial of no more than 4 to 6 weeks, followed by reintroducing foods one group at a time.
IBS is a common and long-term condition, and symptoms may not disappear completely. A diagnosis looks for a pattern of symptoms at least once a week over the last 3 months, and treatment is often not lifelong. Stress care is covered under stress management.
